This presentation provides an independent Canadian policing perspective on the implementation of facial recognition technology. Drawing on the experience of a multi-service partnership involving Halton Regional Police, Peel Regional Police, and York Regional Police, the session will explore the practical realities of introducing facial recognition capabilities within a highly accountable public-sector environment.
The presentation will focus on governance development, privacy considerations, policy creation, public trust, community engagement, inter-agency collaboration, operational safeguards, and lessons learned throughout implementation. The session is intended as an implementation and leadership case study rather than a vendor-specific technology presentation.
