Stuart Swope enlisted with the West Virginia State Police in October 2007 and has since built a distinguished career. He serves as a firearms instructor and has contributed to the Honor Guard, Crime Scene Team, and Enlistment Board, showcasing his diverse expertise and dedication to the force.
Born and raised in Bluefield, WV, Stuart graduated from Bluefield High School before earning a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Marshall University. He has served in Cabell and Logan County and is currently the Detachment Commander in Huntington. Stuart has been involved with Mobile Fingerprint Technology since the WV State Police began using it in 2012. Stuart has utilized the mobile scanner in many different scenarios throughout his career to identify both Unidentified people, and fugitives.
Stuart Currently serves on the Board of Directors for the West Virginia Troopers Association and also serves as 3rd Vice President for the West Virginia Fraternal Order of Police State Board of Directors.
Stuart is happily married, with one son and two wonderful stepchildren.
