Description

Traditionally, ABIS deployments are highly configurable with unique workflows, data fields, networks, and user interfaces to fit the needs of agencies across the country and around the world. While this flexibility allows ABIS databases to adapt to every possible variety in agency size, policies, protocols, and local, state, and federal statutes, the result is a complex set of unique systems that are difficult and expensive to manage and update. This lecture examines IDEMIA’s upcoming shift towards standardization in the next generation of ABIS. The plan is to standardize a majority of the ABIS application and user interface while maintaining customization in the workflows, data fields, and interfaces with external systems. In the ABIS application, the infinite options for customization are reduced to a standard set of configuration options selectable by the Admin. With a standard ABIS application, every agency is always on the same version and updates occur multiple times per year. Be prepared to discuss benefits and concerns related to IDEMIA’s next generation ABIS.
