In this workshop we will explore different examples of friction ridge patterns and arrangements, and demonstrate, using a likelihood ratio tool, which arrangements display a higher specificity than other arrangements.  We will see how various regions of the finger, different pattern types, different minutiae types, and clarity can all impact their discriminability.  We will explore how these principles impact close non-matches and how AFIS scores inform us about specificity.
